EAST LONDON AT DAWN: SUNRISE PHOTOGRAPHY TOUR WITH ANTHONY EPES

“Being out when everyone sleeps is intoxicating. It is the only time when you can see the city as it really is: free from the hordes of people that crowd its streets; free from the traffic that blocks its views; free from the stresses and the pandemonium of urban life.”

This spectacular photo walk offers photographers of any level a unique opportunity to discover how dawn can transform their images. Lead by seasoned photographer Anthony Epes, the route will start down by the river Thames as the sun peeps up over the water, then snake north up to Columbia Road Market to experience the opening of the market at dawn before wandering slowly through the waking streets of London’s East End to Spitalfields Market to join Ray Dervin for a ‘walk’ through the history of the East End.

There is step free access along the route.

For night buses to Tower Bridge use the TFL search: https://tfl.gov.uk/What to bring:

  • We recommend you bring a tripod in order to capture the pre-dawn and dawn light. If you would prefer not to, that’s no problem but you’ll have to wait until there is enough light to shoot without one.
  • Any camera is fine. Bring a plastic bag to protect it from the rain (a cheap but total good solution).
  • Please wear weather-appropriate clothing. Its pretty cold at dawn so be prepared. Plus there is a fair amount of walking, so wear comfortable shoes.
