Escaping the stresses and strains of city life, Jill Daniel’s camera takes us on a journey to the French Riviera, where her camera affectionately observes rich French tourists, asylum seekers, elderly communists and local inhabitants as they go about their daily life. With a camera veering from instrument of investigation to poetic observer, Journey to the South is a rich meditation on past and present, life and death, on creativity and what it means to be a human being.
Exploring themes of displacement, migration and change, Creature of the Estuary takes us on an entirely different poetic journey, through the muddy netherworld of the Thames Estuary. This new work by Eelyn Lee evokes a creature made of fragments of memory and fear: a montage, part fantasy, part travelogue and part requiem.
