The multi-talented Sara Driver was at the centre of “No Wave”, the vibrant avant-garde New York City arts and music scene of the late 70s. The female lynchpin of the 80s American indie film scene, Driver makes a welcome return to directing. Turning her gaze towards her enigmatic contemporary Basquiat, Driver mixes archive footage and music with the memories of friends including Jim Jarmusch, Fab Five Freddy and Patricia Field to deliver a staggering portrait of an artist before commodification.
